Tidepool

Cut straight across the cone, so the core sits near the middle as a pale cream star with brown rings at its heart. The scales stack around it in tan and dark brown, a few with combed white tips, and the rest of the face goes near-black. Turquoise fills the gaps between the scales in rounded pools, one large one off to the right. The outline is the cone's own, an oval with a soft, slightly lumpy edge.

The resin sits glassy and rounded over the whole face, with a few small bubbles caught in the turquoise on the lower right. It wraps the edge so the scale tips are sealed flush. The back is all brown and cream, no turquoise, so the piece reads differently if it turns on the cord. It hangs from a coiled copper loop on a pale braided cord.
