Cut at an angle through the cone so the face comes out as a teardrop, wide at the top and narrowing to a small notched tip, with a scalloped edge where the scale ends break the outline. Near the top the core shows as a pale gold disc and the scales fan out from it in fine tan rays, rust along the upper edge, then olive and near-black through the lower half. Dark brown lines run between every row, and fine gold glitter is scattered across the middle where the rays spread.
The resin sits thick and glassy over the face and rounds off at the rim, so the scalloped tips are sealed flush and hard white highlights run down one side. The other face is the same fan from behind, darker, with rust at the top and olive pooling along the lower edge. It hangs from a coiled wire loop on a pale braided cord, and the gold burst catches light as it turns.
