Cut down the length of the cone so the face is a tall rounded block, wider at the top and tapering to a blunt tip, with a scalloped edge where the scale ends break the outline. Near the top the core shows as a pale cream oval, finely pitted, and the scales sweep out from it in long ochre and rust rays with dark brown lines between every row. Lower down two small white seed ends sit side by side in the middle, and the rays close in below them in stacked arcs that run to the bottom edge.

The resin sits thick and glassy over the cut face, rounded off at the rim so the scalloped tips are sealed flush, and it throws a hard white highlight across the lower half. The back and sides are left as the outside of the cone, grey-brown scales in overlapping rows with the resin just wrapping their edges. It hangs from a coiled wire loop on a pale braided cord, so the cut face and the raw scales come round in turn.
