Galactic

Cut at an angle through the cone so the face comes out as a tall oval with a scalloped edge where the scale tips break the outline. Near the top the core shows as a small cream disc with an ochre center, and the scales fan out from it in long tan rays with dark brown lines between them. Lower down the fan darkens into deep red-brown and near-black, with a few olive streaks along the left side.

The resin sits thick and glassy over the face, rounded at the rim so the scalloped tips are sealed flush, and it throws a hard white highlight along the bottom. The other face is the same fan seen from behind, tan scales in stacked rows with turquoise running through the gaps in thin lines and a patch of dark glitter down the middle. It hangs from a coiled copper loop on a pale braided cord, so both faces come round as it turns.
